Even in the very moment we sense perfect balance, it continuously breaks down, only to be reclaimed again and again.
This work captures, through the body, every fleeting moment of our struggle to maintain balance in life. The phrase “1/75th of a second” translates the Buddhist concept of ‘a moment,’ representing a brief, immeasurably swift period of time.
Has balance truly vanished in the instant of collapse? Or does ON Balance persist, ceaselessly dancing between states of OFF Balance?
The work invites us to ponder: is the fleeting point between balance (ON Balance) and imbalance (OFF Balance) the true essence of life itself? Could balance and imbalance embody opposing truths? The dancer’s movements reveal the essence of these overlooked moments, within a world where materials endure longer than humans, and machines grow ever more intelligent and powerful.
