I- breathe - Everything

I-breathe-Everything looks for clues to sustaining life within moments of disappearance. It is both a reflection on the cycle of an individual life and an exploration of how we might coexist with others.

The work begins with the mechanism of breathing—the inhalation and exhalation through which processes of emergence and disappearance become visible within the body. It extends this bodily cycle toward a way of imagining coexistence with others, nature, and the world.

Disappearance and emergence are fundamental rhythms of all phenomena. Between them, all forms of matter become entangled, forming a web through which each comes to exist in relation to others. The end of things—death, ruins, and decay—can also become a condition for life to continue. To recognize this is to make space for mourning all that has disappeared.

Through the work, Lee considers breath as a time of care: a time to attend to all beings that continue to live at the very edge of an exhalation.
